Languages:
My career has provided me with rich opportunities to learn about other cultures and languages. My father shared many stories about his time in Japan. His love for the culture and the languages of the Orient inspired me to have respect for all cultures. I have studied several languages including German, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, English, and American Sign Language. I spoke German until I was eight, however, currently, I am only fluent in English and American Sign Language. The phrase "If you don't use it, you will lose it" is absolutely true when it comes to language.
Interests:
Avid Reader, Researching and Studying Other Cultures, Native American History, Native American Culture, and Current Events. SEC and Pro Football, Softball, Hockey, and UFC. Coffee in all its glories and pleasures.
Encouragement for Writers and Aspiring Writers:
I was unaware of the meaning of the word "poetry" when I first started writing at a young age; however, I had a wonderful teacher in elementary school that encouraged my love of poetry and writing. Writing has always been a constant form of comfort and freedom of expression for me. For the past several years I have been developing a Young Adult fantasy series, several romance novels, a couple poetry collections, and a couple of short stories. Rejection letters are opportunities to grow: WRITE, EDIT, REVISE, and DO IT AGAIN. Please don't get discouraged. Continue writing and crafting your masterpiece, because every great author has received a rejection letter or two at some point in their career.
